In 2002, I announced Ewan’s birth on the plate glass windows at the original Phoenix Emporium. Last December, he chose this place to ask Max to marry him. And this past Saturday, May 16 (also Max’s parents Natalie & Fred’s 25th and Kate & mine’s 27th anniversary), I had the honor of officiating the start of Max & Ewan’s own family at this magical place. One of our servers was mortified yesterday when she accepted these “counterfeit” $20’s. She brought them to a manager after her suspicions were confirmed by another server. “They look too crisp and good to be that old”. They’re from 1988.
