Elk Point Martial Arts Translated the word Tae means "to strike with the foot." Kwon means "to strike with the hand" and Do means "the way."

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art of Korean Origin. Traditionally Tae Kwon Do has been identified by it's high jumping and flying kick techniques. Tae Kwon Do is the most practiced martial art in the world due in part to the popularity of

its sport aspect. In 1988 the Olympics were held in Seoul, South Korea, for those games, Korea introduced Tae Kwon Do as a demonstration sport. Twelve years later at the 2000 games, Tae Kwon Do was officially accepted as an Olympic sport.
