You're not going to want to miss this post.
You might also want to grab the tissue box.
In 2015, we had dreams of opening a restaurant out in the Sheldon/Wilton community. It was the hardest, most stressful thing we have ever tackled. But we did it. We did it for you.
Over the years, we've met some incredible people we consider family now. We looked forward to the familiar faces everyday. When people said we couldn't make it, we proved to them we did.
We survived COVID (not sure how - it's still a blur we never want to repeat). We survived short staffing, prices of product going up and up and up.
The one thing we can't survive is running a business 7 days a week and balancing the needs of the health for the one and only man himself, Tom.
We've fought till the bitter end and at the end of the day, the health of the man who started it all is the most important thing in our lives.
So with heavy hearts, we've had to make the decision to let go. To let go of the constant struggle the Mom and Pop restaurants face in todays industry. To let go of the short staffing, the no shows, the bacon prices, the egg prices, the wage increases, the cost of simply trying to keep a local restaurant afloat.
This decision did not come easy. Where will they go? We're letting the community down. All those thoughts have left us with a million emotions.
But at the end of the day, we have to focus on the man. Without him, we wouldn't be here today.
So wipes the tears away and join us this last week, as The Barn Cafe says it's goodbye on Saturday, September 30th (Toms Birthday too!). We didn't want to just close our Barn doors without notice. You are our family. We will never forget that.
We hope to see you this last week for our last call.
With so much appreciation and love,
Tina and Tom
