To say today is bittersweet would be an understatement 🥹💖
Today is Mikayla’s last day with us. Tomorrow marks six years since she walked through our doors on opening day of The SweetEasy, and it’s impossible to imagine this journey without her.
When I hired Mikayla, she had never worked in food service or customer service before. But sometimes you meet someone and just know. I saw her kindness, her warmth, her humor, and the way she cared about people, and I knew she was exactly what we needed.
Over the last six years, she became so much more than I ever could have imagined.
She grew from a customer service associate into a barista, baker’s assistant, pizza chef, manager, and eventually General Manager of not one, but two thriving businesses. She tackled every challenge with determination, humility, and a willingness to learn. Time and time again, she proved that experience means very little when someone has heart.
But her greatest contribution was never a job title.
It was the way she made people feel.
Mikayla helped create the culture that so many of you have come to know and love. She welcomed people in, remembered their stories, celebrated their wins, cried through their losses, and made these places feel like home. She loved our customers fiercely, cared deeply for our teams, and treated these businesses as if they were her own.
For me personally, there are not enough words.
She has been my right hand, my sounding board, my biggest supporter, and one of the most loyal people I have ever known. Through every high and low, every crazy idea, every challenge, and every victory, she showed up. Not just for the businesses, but for me, for my children, and eventually for Gerald too.
Some employees become friends. Some friends become family.
Mikayla became family.
I am endlessly proud of the woman she has become and endlessly grateful for the role she has played in our story. While this chapter is ending, I know without a doubt that the best is still ahead for her.
Thank you for six incredible years, Mikayla. Thank you for helping build these businesses. Thank you for loving our community so well. Thank you for loving us.
We will miss you more than words can say, but we will always be cheering you on — front and center.
Love you forever, beautiful lady ❤️
