The Story Behind The Refinery ⛽️
One of the questions we get asked most is, “Why The Refinery?”
Of course, El Dorado’s rich oil history played a huge role in the name. The oil boom helped shape our town into what it is today, and we wanted to pay tribute to that legacy. But for us, the connection runs much deeper than the city we call home.
Both of our families have deep roots in the oil and pipeline industries. Lance’s grandfather worked at the Lion Oil Refinery, helping build careers and provide for their families through hard work and dedication. Lauren’s grandfather worked on many pipeline jobs across the country. Both of our fathers continued that tradition, working in local plants and on pipelines across Arkansas and throughout the country.
Growing up, we heard the stories, saw the sacrifices, and learned the value of putting in an honest day’s work. Those lessons helped shape who we are and ultimately inspired the vision behind The Refinery.
Today, while we’re serving sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee, and homemade favorites instead of refining oil, we’re built on many of the same values—hard work, family, community, and pride in what we do.
The Refinery is more than just a name. It’s a tribute to our families, our heritage, and the hardworking people who helped build El Dorado.
As soon as you walk in the doors, you can see those men and women that built us and raised us to be the workers that we are today. We continue to honor them and make them apart of this dream!
Thank you for being part of our story. ❤️
