Construction Update:

Thank you to The Village and the EHBA for listening to our concerns on the signage!
EHBA Members,
A bit of good news - after hearing numerous concerns about the 'No Access to Egg Harbor ' signage associated with the Hwy 42 detour - the Wis-DOT notified the Village of Egg Harbor during a conference call on Thursday, January 18th that we can in fact remove the "No Access to Egg Harbor" signs! The Wis-DOT also informed the Village of the potential risks associated with sign removal. After careful consideration and planning of additional signage, the decision has been made to remove the 'No Access to Egg Harbor' signage at each end of the detour. New 'construction bypass' signs will be installed along the alternate access routes closer to the road closure locations in order to direct travelers around the construction zone and back into Village limits. Access to Egg Harbor Businesses' signage will be repositioned intermittently along with the 'Construction Bypass' signage in order to direct travelers to Egg Harbor Businesses.
Unfortunately, due to the recent inclement weather and blizzard, the approved 'Egg Harbor Businesses are open & accessible' signage that is to be installed along the detour route has been delayed. The new timeline is set for early next week.
In addition to the approved Wis-DOT signage, the Egg Harbor Business Association has also worked with private businesses to install additional signage on private property to promote support for the Egg Harbor businesses. This signage is anticipated to be installed early next week as well.
Once the new signage is put into place - the 'No Access' signs will be removed.
We appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to listen to concerns and make improvements as the project progresses. We look forward to continuing to provide updates on construction progress which can be found at: https://villageofeggharbor.org/hwy42 and will also be shared via social media.
