The drink is widely credited to Count Camillo Negroni in Florence, Italy.⁠

Around 1919, at Caffè Casoni, the Count asked the bartender to:⁠
👉 Strengthen his usual Americano (Campari, sweet vermouth, soda)⁠
👉 Replace the soda with gin⁠

The bartender, often identified as Fosco Scarselli, obliged—and the Negroni was born.⁠
