Employee Spotlight #10 — Owner Edition: Stormy Wilcoxson
We’ve spent the last several weeks introducing you to some of the people behind The Dandelion, but for Employee Spotlight #10, we’re bending the rules a little. Because this one belongs to the woman who started it all.
Stormy started with a big dream, an idea, and probably just enough crazy to convince a group of us to follow her straight through the trenches to make it happen. And trust us when we say through the trenches.
She has cleaned, scrubbed, painted, remodeled, hauled, organized, and done a hundred other jobs most owners would never dream of doing themselves. And opening the doors certainly didn’t change that.
On any given day, you might find Stormy in the kitchen helping us cook, standing at expo getting plates out, bussing a table, delivering food, taking an order, answering the phone, making a reservation, or standing up front talking to everyone who walks through the door. There really isn't a job at The Dandelion that she considers beneath her. If something needs to be done, she does it.
But what makes Stormy so special to us has very little to do with being an owner.
She takes care of her people.
She makes us laugh. She checks on us. She makes sure we have what we need, both inside this restaurant and outside of it. She treats us like family, loves us fiercely, and gives us opportunities we will never be able to thank her enough for.
Now, don't misunderstand us. She'll tell you exactly what she thinks. She's direct, outspoken, stubborn, brutally honest, and will put us in our place when we need it. There is absolutely no wondering where you stand with Stormy Wilcoxson. But underneath that big personality is one of the most genuine, generous, kindhearted people you could ever know.
And somehow, The Dandelion isn't even her only full-time job. She runs other businesses, serves on the EDC board, supports our schools and athletic booster club, stays involved throughout this community, and wears approximately 487 different hats on any given day. We genuinely aren't sure when she sleeps.
Stormy, The Dandelion is your dream, but somewhere along the way, you made it ours too.
Every detail of this place carries a little piece of everything you've poured into it...your time, your energy, your determination, your heart, and probably a few tears and choice words along the way.
We cannot thank you enough for believing in this restaurant, but more importantly, for believing in us.
You gave us more than jobs. You gave us a place where we feel valued, cared for, challenged, supported, and part of something bigger than ourselves.
So today, we're turning the spotlight around.
Meet Stormy Wilcoxson....our owner, our boss, our fearless leader, our occasional pain in the rear, and without question, one of the biggest hearts in Van Zandt County.
We love you, Stormy. We're proud of what you've built, we're grateful to be part of it, and we will follow you to the ends of the earth to make sure this crazy little dream succeeds.
Employee Spotlight #10 belongs to the boss lady. And we wouldn't have it any other way.
