I know many of you probably do not know, but my father, Pappy, Harry Huzsek passed away suddenly on Sept 15,2024 due to complications from heart surgery. If you are wondering if we are still doing Potatofest this weekend, the answer is yes, just a little different than other years. Obviously, this is terrible timing with this being my Dad’s recipe and losing him 1 week ago today is devastating. So many people talked about his soup at his funeral this week and how food in general was one of his love languages, and so we feel like he would have wanted us to keep sharing it. I am hoping there is some healing involved with seeing others enjoy his soup.
That being said…I am not sure how emotional I will be on that day, how “triggering” this process will be… so I am stepping back from working the front end taking orders and may or may not be there at all (except for set up and tear down). Very grateful to have great friends (Tim Caroff, Fran Ritchey) who will be helping us out with this, as well as my son Ryan.
I know many will mean well to offer their condolences, and it’s such a busy day, and I don’t want to get emotional and just think it is best to take me out of the equation for the day. I am sure you all understand. My husband Scott, our cook, is my rock and taking care of everything. So please be patient, please be kind and know we have been through a lot this past week, and are still grieving.
