In the1980's, Southern California master barbecuer Larry Carter and his wife Jo Ann Carter opened a restaurant in Moreno Valley, CA. During this time Larry felt like he had evolved from cooking for family and friends to cooking for the community which he lived as well as for people of all cultures and walks of life. Many of Larry's co-workers expressed that he had "changed the game of barbecuing"
due to his meat having a unique smoked flavor and a juicy tender bite. Larry had been barbecuing in his yard since the early 1970’s and had mastered his pit! So much so that he drew plans of his own version of "the perfect smoker" and had it custom built. From this his children took great interest in the family business. His three children Sophia, Yolanda, and Ryan continued to carry on with the family business by catering and later started up Fat Larry’s Tailgate & Grill. The three children also catered to their community at social and sporting events because they enjoyed barbecuing and keeping the family tradition. Today Larry’s two daughters along with his grandchildren are still catering and barbecuing; offering other delicious foods and baked treats. This is the birthing of “Fat Larry’s Cafe”, their menu consist of Larry’s original delicious smoked BBQ ribs, "Q-Burger", Southern Fried Fish along with an array of other delectable delicious dishes paired with fresh sides and delicious baked treats to satisfy your taste buds.
