🥣MONK SOUP TODAY & TOMORROW until it’s gone!🥣
This traditional Good Friday soup- also known as “Kibbet Raheb” - enjoyed by Lebanese Catholics all over the world has roots that run deep, back to biblical times. It’s associated with Jesus Christ, with several different variations of the legend. Some say he actually ate the soup and others say that when He asked for water on the cross and was given lemon, the inspiration for this lemony soup was born.
Like the different variations of the story behind it, almost every Lebanese family will make it a little differently, with the common denominators being hand-rolled wheat balls and lemon. We like to load ours with lots of different beans, grains, garlic, greens and pomegranate molasses 🤤
