Well family I’m finally home 3 months 6 days. Thank you to everyone who called visited and prayed for me. To my starting (5) Bobby, Terrence,Joe, Sybil & Shonda who flew in from Georgia we did it again went thru COVID, Heart surgery, Kidney failure thanks to my prayer warriors Alice Thomas my sister for over 50 years. And Barbara Screen who had Me on the prayer List.

Governor Kay Ivey has commuted the sentence of Charles “Sonny” Burton to life without parole. He’d been scheduled to be executed via nitrogen gas this Thursday.

In 1991, Burton was one of six men involved in the robbery of a AutoZone store in Talladega that ended with the murder of a customer, Doug Battle; however, Burton did not pull the trigger in the killing.

“Doug Battle was brutally murdered by Derrick DeBruce while shopping in an auto parts store. But DeBruce was ultimately sentenced to life without parole. Charles Burton did not shoot the victim, did not direct the triggerman to shoot the victim and had already left the store by the time the shooting occurred. Yet Mr. Burton was set to be executed while DeBruce was allowed to live out his life in prison,” Governor Ivey said in a statement.
