Maddie’s artist side got ACTIVATED today, and she stayed locked in until the masterpiece was DONE. 🥹❤️

And this is why I’ll always make room for her to CREATE.

It’s not “just a drawing.”

It’s imagination.
It’s confidence.
It’s creativity.
It’s “LOOK WHAT I MADE!” 🥹

I will let her draw. I will let her dream. I will let her shine.

God put me in my place if if I ever rush Maddie’s creativity 🙌🏾

Sometimes the biggest project you’ll ever work on… is YOU.

Not the version of you everybody else wants to see.
Not the version that keeps everybody comfortable.
Not the version that explains yourself over and over again.

YOU.

Work on your peace.
Work on your mindset.
Work on your healing.
Work on your boundaries.
Work on your discipline.
Work on becoming the person you keep praying to become.

And understand this: working on yourself isn’t always pretty.

Some days you’ll feel powerful.
Some days you’ll question everything.
Some days you’ll outgrow people, places, habits, and even old versions of yourself.

Let them go.

You don't have to announce every change.
You don't have to prove your growth.
You don't have to make everybody understand.

Just keep doing the work.

Because one day, you’re going to look back and realize…

The person you were fighting so hard to become was already inside you. You just had to give her permission to grow.

Keep going.
Keep healing.
Keep choosing yourself.

Your next chapter deserves a better version of you. ❤️

I’m REALLY trying to refrain from going down the rabbit hole with this Christa Pike situation… but BABYYYY… 😳

Because the more I read, the more questions I have.

There was a correctional officer, Justin Heflin, who was involved in an alleged escape plot connected to Pike while she was on death row. Some reporting has even described Heflin as Pike’s boyfriend, although the official Tennessee records I’m finding don’t establish that relationship in those terms.

And then there’s Donald Kohut, who was visiting Pike and became involved in the escape scheme too.

Now y’all KNOW I’m a “let me follow the receipts” kind of person. 😂

So before I start connecting dots that may or may not belong together… I’m gonna sit my Libra self DOWN and keep reading. 👀

Because whew chile… this rabbit hole is looking deeper than I expected. 🫠

So let me make sure I understand this…

The STATE of Tennessee tried to take Christa Pike’s life. TWICE.
Two doses of lethal injection… and she’s STILL HERE.

And now… they’re trying to SAVE HER LIFE. 👀

Now listen… I’m not here to debate what she did, the victim, or the sentence. That’s a whole different conversation.

I’m talking about THIS moment.

Because at what point do we, as human beings, recognize that we are playing a role that belongs to GOD?

You can call it justice.
You can call it punishment.
You can call it the law.

But when the SAME system that was prepared to end your life suddenly has to fight to keep you alive…

WHEW.

My Libra scales are sitting over here like:
⚖️ “Nah… somebody explain this one to me.” 😂

Because I’m going to question ANY system that gives humans the power to decide who lives and who dies… and then has to scramble to preserve that same life when the plan doesn’t go the way they intended.

With my whole chest: when will we learn to stop playing God?

Whew…… 1 year later. 🥹

There has been SO much that has happened this last year. So much so that as I was scrolling through my pictures trying to find this video, all I could do was laugh.

There has been a LOT of me “putting my big girl britches on.” 😂🥹 I actually put a pair on last night that I had hidden away and tied together with one of Maddie’s scrunchies… preparing myself for today.

The impact you have had on my life for the last 18 years…… I’m so grateful for you. I can’t put everything I feel into words, but I hope you always knew just how much you meant to me.

I’ve been trying my best to live my life asking myself, “What would Dad do in this situation?”

I’ve worked on my patience.
I’ve worked on my delivery.
I’ve worked on understanding others.
I’ve worked on being better.

And I remember telling you before you went into surgery that Daniel-Son and I were going to work on our marriage. I wasn’t expecting you to get emotional and tell me that you had been praying for that. 🥹

But Dad…… I can honestly say we found our way 🫶🏽

I miss you more and more every single day.

There are so many times I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you. I miss your wisdom. I miss your voice. I miss being able to come to you when I didn’t have the answers.

But I know you’re in better hands now.

Okay… I’m starting to ramble and get emotional. 🥹

We’ll be alright.

You keep protecting us.
I’ll keep my word.
