The attached is an editorial response from Google to the efforts lead by Rupert Murdock to prevent Google from indexing his companies' material. While self-serving on Google's part, it is an excellent review of the evolution of the internet and how it is changing everything.

In The Wall Street Journal, Google CEO Eric Schmidt says that the Internet will not destroy news organizations. He says that Google working in cooperation with publishers of newspapers and magazines can help bring about a business model to share ad revenue from searches.

This is a 'war' that is about to errupt. Rupert Murdock (Fox, WSJ, etc.) is about to take on Google using "spidercide" (robots.txt). This relates directly to Lecture 8 material.
