Restaurant Sidney

Restaurant Sidney Sidney by Chef Neil Annis is located in the heart of East Berlin, between York and Gettysburg, on Route 234 in historic Adams County.

The casual yet sophisticated comfort of Sidney has been carefully cultivated from Chef/Owner Neil Annis’ decades of culinary expertise. After attending the Culinary Institute of America and being deemed “most likely to succeed” by his peers, Annis worked in numerous critically acclaimed restaurants throughout the United States and Europe. His restaurant experience includes positions at Aux Beaux C

hamps in Washington, D.C., and Les Célébrités and the four-star Bouley in New York City. Annis took a respite from the restaurant industry after being recruited as the corporate chef of research and development for Unilever. In this position, he helped to create and develop hundreds of branded products, including Ragu, Wishbone and Lawry’s. He re-entered the industry two years later as Chef de Cuisine at the opulent Lespinasse in New York City, earning the coveted four-star rating two months after opening. More critical acclaim followed when Annis, serving as Executive Chef, opened Compass on New York’s Upper West Side, described by the Zagat Guide in 2003 as the “Best New Restaurant in New York City.” The restaurant was also featured on the Today show and in Gourmet, Architectural Digest, and Food and Wine magazines. Annis left Compass in early 2004 and spent six months traveling and reassessing his life goals. Although he was offered high profile positions across the country, Annis decided to come home to his roots and open his own restaurant. Enchanted with Adams County, Pennsylvania’s country charm, in October 2004 he opened Sidney in East Berlin

If you’re looking for something elegant to anchor your September, our Mediterranean Wine Dinner is one of SIDNEY Tavern’s most beloved traditions.
Over the years, these dinners have become a hallmark of our hospitality — evenings where Chef Neil and his talented culinary team craft thoughtful courses, pair them with expressive wines, and guide guests through the history, culture, and terroir behind each region.
On September 24th, we explore the Mediterranean, beginning with hors d’oeuvre and craft cocktails, followed by five wines and the cuisine that makes these nights unforgettable.

Lyrics by The Moody Blues, "Tuesday Afternoon" circa 1968
"Tuesday afternoon, I'm just beginning to see
Now I'm on my way - It doesn't matter to me
Chasing the clouds away
Something calls to me, the trees are drawing me near
I've got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear...."
And if one of those gentle voices is telling you where to go tonight
let it guide you straight to our door.

Wednesday has you feeling a little worn down, come let SIDNEY Tavern lift your spirits with something truly delicious. We’re serving the kind of mid‑week comfort that makes you forget every email, every meeting, and every “can you just…” that tried to ruin your day.

Our Steak Frites with housemade chimichurri comes out hot, crisp, and absolutely ready to be the best decision you make all week — paired with a glass of Cabernet or any wine by the glass for $37 from 4–8 PM.

Steak Frites has roots in the old French brasseries, where people worked hard, ate well, and didn’t apologize for enjoying life. It was the dish you ordered when you needed something simple, satisfying, and a little indulgent. Crisp frites, a perfectly seared steak, and a bright, herb‑packed sauce… it’s timeless for a reason.

So slide into SIDNEY Tavern from 4–8 PM, enjoy your wine, savor that steak, and let the rest of the week wait its turn. Your hump day just got a whole lot better.

If your boss worked your last nerve…
If your coworkers tested your patience…
If your day felt longer than Dolly’s wig list…

Slide in, sip pretty, laugh loudly —
and raise a glass to the woman who proved you can work hard, shine bright, and still keep your sass polished.

RIP Queen Dolly Parton — a true gem, a philanthropist, and one‑of‑a‑kind human being who made the world kinder, brighter, and a whole lot more fabulous.
