This is a difficult post to make but if nothing else, we have always been real with you all. This economy is rough for us all. Our sales here at Bella over this last year have been 50% or more lower than they had been. This was the lowest day we have seen since we opened 12 year ago. As you can imagine, after wages, supplies and other expenses, this day was a huge loss. This is not a post looking for pity or a ploy to increase sales (although that would be amazing), instead it is just our hope to help everyone remember us little guys. Everyone's budget is tight. Especially as the holidays approach, please consider spending whatever "fun money" you have at one of our small locally owned businesses. When things get tight, it's not Walmart, McDonald's or Amazon that we will lose; it will be our small locally owned Mom and Pop shops that shut their doors. Our small shops are what make a community. And even if you have no "fun money" (no surprise these days), there are things you can do to help:
1) Talk to others about your favorite local business. Brag about us like we are your kids playing their first soccer game. Word of mouth advertising is the best advertising these days.
2) Like, Share, Comment and Interact with posts from your favorite places. The algorithm rewards interaction and spreads the message further
3) Be patient when your local shop is under staffed. Wages are one of our highest expenses and we are just trying to keep the doors open.
4) Have understanding when we are "out" of something. Purchasing supplies is getting harder and harder. Just like you at home, sometimes we have to stretch things out til there is enough money in the bank to go shopping.
5) When prices do increase, please know it is the LAST thing we wanted to do. When a price increases, know it increased for us as well and most likely we have been paying that higher price for months and tried every creative way possible to make things work before raising them.
6) And lastly, know every single one of the small businesses value nothing more than being part of this community and want nothing more than to be a positive addition to it. Trust me, none of us got into this thinking we were gonna be sipping champagne and eating caviar😆
