Friends, fans, foodies, loyal, long-time regulars, newest additions, former and current Duvallians, and all the rest who have shared a smile and a cup with us….
After almost 2,500 gallons of soup, 43,812 breakfast sandwiches, 59,130 cornbread muffins, 11,232 brownies, 14,040 gingerbreads, 38,246 pounds of coffee, AND 299,520 crackers made by hand and to order…
(yes, we know who asks to hold the cheese, substitute tomatoes, add horseradish, remove the egg yolk, extra crisp English muffin, only two pieces of bacon, and please add extra mayo ~ and we wouldn’t trade you for the world!)
…we’ve decided it’s time for us to move on our next adventure.
Make no mistake; it has been our pleasure to serve you, and to get to know so many of you. For the last ten years, you have been our entire lives (some of you were involved in the years leading up to opening, and we remain grateful!) January 31, 2018 will be the last full day of business at the Duvall Coffeehouse. We would love to see any and all of you that can come by before then and, if you can’t, please know that we love and appreciate all of you for being part of our world during this adventure.
The list of those to thank is longer than this page will hold, and things will not be the same without you. Friendships have been forged, businesses connected, tantrums thrown, and peace made, bad jokes shared, politics debated, good news spread, tears dried, and posses rallied, cars fixed, eggs traded, ideas hatched, new faces welcomed, and goodbyes said. Thank you for letting us be part of your lives, too.
With special thanks to some local businesses who helped us hurdle the first year during the Main Street Construction project to those who may see us five times a day now, The Duvall Coffeehouse sends love to you.
To the artists in our community, and those who have hung on our walls, we are honored to have been able to enjoy and share your work with the public. Specific gratitude to Dan Cautrell, who hung paintings on our walls before we were even open for business, and who continues to adorn the Coffeehouse with his wit and wisdom. We love you, your art, your attitude, and still believe you to be the Art Commissioner of Duvall (officially or unofficially, doesn’t matter to us).
To the artists in our community, and those who have performed on Saturday nights, open mic nights, poetry readings, writing workshop after-parties, story telling sessions, Halloween parties, birthday parties, and the Saturday morning schedule-free jam sessions, we thank you. You are part of the soundtrack of the Coffeehouse, which would not have been without our lovely and lively host, Cal Donnolley (thanks, Sunshine).
To the artists in our community, and those who have given gifts of their art which are the Coffeehouse personality, quirk, winks, nods and smiles. Yours are the signs people ask about, the cartoons that induce laughter, the paintings that draw gazes, and accompany the stories we tell about our people, our friends, our regulars, and the passers-through who left a piece of themselves after downing some fuel for the road. We thank you. Dig it or don’t, you’re part of us bitter-hate-filled-little-man, and we love you for it.
Special thanks also to Mike Chapman, owner of the historic building that has housed the Duvall Coffeehouse for nine years. If you could write a book with what these walls have heard…
Heather and Russ thank you for being one of the most fun, coolest, most challenging, beautiful parts of our lives. See you in the funny papers, we’ll be smiling.
Love, love, and more love, always ~
