WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR STORIES.

What makes our market feel like "home" to you?

Can you believe it? This September marks our 40th anniversary!

For four decades, E. 48th Street Market has been more than just a shop — it's been a place where we've shared meals, celebrated milestones, and built a community together.

As we look back on 40 wonderful years, we realized that the best part of our history isn't the shelves or the products—it's you!

Do you remember the first time you walked through our doors?

Do you have a favorite "go-to" hero sandwich?

Is there a specific prepared meal or deli find you always come back for?

What makes our market feel like "home" to you?

We'd love to hear it all. Please leave a note in our suggestion box at the market or email us at:

Include pictures if you have them!

We'll be sharing some of these memories as we celebrate this major milestone.

The Market's Annual Summer Break PLUS a Summer Recipe.

OUR JULY SCHEDULE

FRIDAY, JULY 3RD – 10:AM – 3:00PM
JULY 4TH. – CLOSED
Then we will be CLOSED all week
We will re-open on Monday July 13th at 10:00am

Summer settled in early this year and July promises more of the same…hot and humid. Our grandchildren, who are truly gifts to us, are kept so busy all year with school and after school sports work, and activities that it’s difficult to get everyone together for family time.

That’s why we all really enjoy our beach time, so once again we will be heading to the shore for a week of family fun, franks and burgers, beach games, s’mores night, couples cooking, chicken on the beach night, and margaritas but most of all togetherness. We will all settle in for fun in Wild Dunes.

Here are two quick recipes we’ll be cooking up that I thought you might enjoy.

PASTA WITH TOMATOES AND MOZZARELLA – 1 LB of Pasta, 1 large ripe tomato, 2 cloves of garlic, ¼ cup olive oil, 7 or 8 basil leaves, 1 small onion, 1 ¼ cups shredded mozzarella, salt and pepper to taste. Early in day, Chop the tomato, thinly slice the garlic, slice the onion, tear the basil leaves into small pieces, shred the fresh mozzarella and combine all in a bowl with the olive oil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and let sit to marinate. At dinner time boil the pasta al dente, drain and toss with the marinated tomatoes, etc. and serve. The heat of the pasta will make the mozzarella soft and stringy. That’s why the kids love it and it is so easy.

Now Dessert – QUICK BLUEBERRY BUCKLE – ¾ sugar, ¼ cup shortening, 1 egg, beaten, ½ cup milk, 2 cups sifted flour, ¾ tsp salt, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 cups blueberries. (You can even use peaches if you prefer and sometimes, I mix both together).
Cream sugar and shortening, beat in egg and milk, then the sifted dry ingredients. Stir in berries, gently so as not to crush. Spoon into a greased 9X13 pan, top with crumbled mixture of: ½ cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 cup butter. Bake @ 350 for 35 – 40 mins. Serve with ice cream. All the better with ice cream!

Have a great July, enjoy a safe holiday whatever you are planning, celebrate the 4th, fly your American flag proudly, watch a parade and while you are having a good time remember Our Troops.

We’ll be celebrating with patriotic music and some flag waving. And we’ll take time to say a prayer for the safety of Our Troops who are making it possible for us to enjoy this holiday.

So, stay cool stay safe and enjoy July!

I am proud to announce that our latest batch of Fig Trees is now available for purchase at E. 48th Street Market.

All the proceeds from every tree sold will be donated directly to the USO at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to support our military personnel and their families.

Limited quantities are available now at the Market, $40 ea. Come by and start your own story with "one little sprig."

Fig Tree Story…. One Little Sprig

Dear Friends,

This story begins with a single sprig.

In the 1930s, my father, Salvatore Augello, planted a cutting from a Turkish Brown fig tree in a small backyard in Manhattan. That cutting came from his hometown in Sicily. Over the decades, that tree traveled with our family—to Long Island, to Massachusetts, and finally here to Georgia, where the trees have truly thrived.

Today, I propagate these trees not just to preserve our family history, but to support those who serve our country.

I am proud to announce that our latest batch of Fig Trees is now available for purchase at E. 48th Street Market.

All the proceeds from every tree sold will be donated directly to the USO at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to support our military personnel and their families.

When you take home one of these trees, you aren’t just buying a plant; you’re taking home a piece of history and giving back to our troops.
