Nettle Leaf 🍃
Pregnancy increases blood volume by ~50%!!!
Nettle has traditionally been used as a blood builder, meaning:
It helps maintain healthy hemoglobin levels & upports oxygen and nutrient delivery to the placenta
=Better maternal blood health = better nutrient flow to baby.
Oat Straw 🌾
Oat straw (the green tops of Avena sativa) isn’t oats—it’s used as a nervine, meaning it helps support a calm, steady nervous system.
You only really get the benefits with long infusions (4+ hours).
Alfalfa 🌱
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) comes from Arabic al-fac-facah meaning “father of all foods” as it contains vitamins A, C, E, K. Which is why herbalists were like… wait, maybe we should also be using this
Red Raspberry Leaf 💪
Red raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) has been used for millennia to support pregnancy. Seriously, there are records of it being used by Romans in the 5th century. It has been known to support uterine tone which will help the body prepare for labor (especially later on- think a 3rd trimester workhorse herb)
👉 Example batch: Trimester 1-2
(in the final trimester you can increase the red raspberry leaf to 2 parts for more uterine toning effects)
3 part nettle leaf (ex. 3 cup)
2 part oat straw (ex. 2 cup)
1 part alfalfa (ex. 1 cup)5 part raspberry leaf (ex .5 cup)
Preparation and Usage: Daily infusion- 1–2 tbsp per quart, steep 5+ hours (or overnight) This method pulls the minerals we actually want out of the herbs.
