3...2...1...and we're back folks! Martha's Eats & Treats returns this weekend with a bit of flair and added excitement. Just like a bustling bakery in an olden day village along the banks of the Danube, where the bakers wrap their hair in a bun, don hand-stitched linen aprons, and wield rolling pins like clubs, we are once again proudly taking part in the 2026 Dundas Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday! Moments ago, while I was devouring a trial pretzel (or two) over the kitchen sink for breakfast, it occured to me that we still hadn't posted! Uff!! Getting back in the swing of things... Pretzels will be at the festival, and at the bakery... Mushroom Soup; Ham Green Onion or Broccoli Goat Cheese Quiche; Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies; Cranberry Harvest Muffins; and Cardamom Walnut Cake for Dessert!

*Oktoberfest starts at 12pm on Saturday and the road in front of the bakery will be closed at 10am. There is ample parking in the surrounding area, but if you hope to get in and out quickly with pastries or orders, please plan accordingly. We will be open at the cafe all day for our usual hours of 6am-2pm (not closing early this year)!

We are OPEN as usual this Friday and Saturday for Labor Day weekend, but will be CLOSED the following week at the bakery...

We are OPEN as usual this Friday and Saturday for Labor Day weekend, but will be CLOSED the following week at the bakery and Riverwalk Market Fair (September 11th and 12th) for the Defeat of Jesse James Days. An annual tradition, we hit the dusty trail for some exploration and fun, and let the local holiday run wild without us (see Martha grinning big at a foreign farmers market). If fried fair food isn't your thing, be sure to stop by and stock up this weekend - we have quarts of soup, loaves of bread, whole quiche and pies, frozen pastries to bake at home, and so much more... Ham Corn Chowder; Sausage Green Pepper or Tomato Basil Quiche; Lemon Sugar Cookies; Cherry Coffee Cake; and Blueberry Pie!

This time of year brings transition - the light begins to change, evenings cool, crops make their final push, students come and go, crickets and cicadas sing, and the magical monarchs metamorphose. We had the recent pleasure of witnessing some chrysalis in real time (thanks for sharing Ed!), and were again reminded of the amazing wonders of the world in which we live. A special place indeed. Although these butterflies have flown, there's always something taking on different forms at the bakery... this weekend: Soup will be Sausage White Bean and Kale; Quiche flavors are Prosciutto Herb or Spinach Artichoke; Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins; 'Everyday' Cookies; and Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Filling for Dessert! Extraordinary!

Weird and wonderful. We've said it before and we'll say it again, these banana bread muffins are just like all of us. And they're back again this weekend, but what gives them the name? Good evening! We're starting this post with a quick shout out for the Vintage Band Festival going on this weekend! The Riverwalk Market Fair will still be held on Saturday from 9am-1pm but we'll all be in different spots - you can find Martha's on the corner of 4th and Division. The Astro Van will be loaded up for delivery as usual (bungee cords and all), but don't be looking for that AWD rusted champagne beauty, it'll be parked down the road... Summertime at the ballpark! Martha's Eats & Treats sponsored "Baking Night" at the Dundas Dukes game this evening (congrats Dukes on the win!), and our own team gathered at the grandstand to cut loose for a few innings with the ol' American pastime. Summertime also brings the heat and loads the bases with fresh produce so we've got an all-star lineup this weekend to keep you cool... Certain milestones come with the seasons, and we've made a full rotation to get back to this time of year when tomatoes ripen on the vine. To mark the occasion, we are pleased to announce the spectacular return of the Smoked Turkey BLT! Our strict policy for this sandwich requires using only locally grown tomatoes—so when the season ends, that's it! Fortunately, we've got a full run ahead of us and to kick things off, we picked up a couple of crates of slicing beauties from Twin Organics!... Along with sandwiches... We hope you all had a good Independence Day weekend - our team had a nice little midsummer hiatus and we're ready to get back to it! The garden grew by leaps and bounds since we were gone and the harvest is now well underway - we'll be incorporating super fresh ingredients from our own plot and farmer friends everywhere we can these next few months! Greens and basil make their debut on the menu this upcoming July 10th and 11th... Soup is Tuscan White Bean (pesto, beans, tomatoes, etc.); Quiche flavors are Prosciutto Onion or Sauteed Summer Greens; Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins; Chocolate Chip with Toffee and Sea Salt Cookies; and Chocolate Hazelnut Tart for Dessert!
