Grandma’s Restaurant Company lost a guiding light and a true friend last night.
Michael Melby, Vice President of Purchasing and a 48 year employee, passed away surrounded and supported by his family.
Mike was a lifelong learner and teacher. A knowledgeable mentor to many and a reliable friend to all.
He was a man of great taste and high standards.
He appreciated genuine hospitality and had a great passion for helping create memorable customer experiences.
Mike was a real titan in the Minnesota restaurant industry, well known by purveyors for his great knowledge, sharp negotiating skills, and kind words.
He will be sadly missed by all of us at Grandma’s, but especially by his wife Lesa, daughter Gretchen, son Leif, his grandchildren, and a long list of personal and professional acquaintances.
We are so honored and grateful to have worked alongside, Mike and we are challenged to proudly carry on the legacy that he will always be a part of.
So in honor of “Melbs”, please raise a glass tonight and enjoy a well-prepared meal with someone you love!
That is how he would want to be remembered.
