Thank you all for the positive comments and messages regarding my last post. The love and kindness and support has been felt πŸ’“. I'm doing a little giveaway since I still have some DK swag left and since winter's been a bit too long in my opinion and because well I feel like it ☺️.
Comment below the day you think all of the snow will melt in my yard (like ALL of it). The person closest to the actual date the snow melts will get a growler of kombucha, tote bag, DK patch, and sticker (maybe a SCOBY too?). Idk, you'll get some free things okay? Drop your guess in the comments on this post by March 31st at midnight to be entered. The yard is approximately 700sq ft with a fair amount of afternoon sun, and the highest part of the snow is about 3ft currently.
I'm also considering doing a couple runs of t-shirts/sweatshirts with some designs that I had made for DK but never had the chance to use - is this something y'all might want? Proceeds could go to a local org? Thinking out loud here! Lemme know your thoughts please.
For those asking about SCOBYs, I'll post on here when they are ready. I moved and getting my home brew going again has been a slow process 🫠.

Hey y'all! An update of sorts. I put down the tea and picked up the tools πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ. A few years ago I started pursuing a career in the trades while I was still running Duluth Kombucha. This entailed 90 hour work weeks with full time school, living without hot water and eating a lot of rice and beans. It also resulted in me being a less than stellar business owner due to extreme burnout and depression, but I wasn't able to close the business any sooner than I did because I relied on that income. Doing something that you no longer enjoy doing is mentally/emotionally/physically taxiing and I know many of you can relate, because well America πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Anyway, I'm on the other side of it now. I've been working in my chosen trade for almost a year now and I love what I do, my local union, and the new opportunities it's afforded me. However, I really wanted to come on here to thank all of you for helping create and sustain DK. The goal was a 5 year operation and it lasted for 6 so I'm happy with that despite the burnout at the end. I had many fulfilling years with DK, met so many amazing humans, and got to experience so much; it was 'buchin'! So sincerely and with so much love, thank you for making Duluth Kombucha, Duluths' kombucha. I hope you all can find the things, people, and places that make you feel the way my dog does on a June afternoon with the window rolled down.

As for me now personally: I've really enjoyed a work life balance (what are weekends?!), quality time with my best friend, sobriety, and just taking it eeaaasssyy.

I'm also working on a short little booklet on how to brew kombucha that will be available as an e-download for super cheap and in the future I may have some SCOBY's available as well. If there's any specifics you want included in the how-to guide or 'buch specific questions comment them below or send a DM. πŸ™‚

Thanks again for the wild ride y'all. Where you spend your dollar matters. If you have a favorite small business/artist/maker/musician, tell your friends - heck tell your enemies. Share their posts, hype them up, leave them reviews.

And most importantly, tell your friends you love them. πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“

Hey y'all. Eventually every cowboy has to hang his hat. I'm back home in Arizona to be with my dad as he passes.
I've been able to respond to a few emails and reschedule deliveries but there's much I've not been able to do while I'm here. I've also had a handful of new accounts reach out (amazing, I love that and really want to work with you) but it's going to take me a minute to get caught up and reach out to each of you. Duluth Kombucha is a one woman show, I appreciate any grace and patience you're able to give me.
Hug your homies, tell your people you love them, and also absolutely f*ck cancer.
Cowboy advice: Be rootin', be tootin', and by God be shootin', but most of all - be kind.
With love and humility,
Chelle 🧑

A New Year's check in. Many thanks to everyone who continues to be a part of the Duluth Kombucha journey. Whether it's interacting with my social media posts, ordering a pint of 'buch at your favorite watering hole, or telling the homies about DK. I'm so grateful for all of it. CW: depression & su***de talk. Much love to my talented friend who snapped some shots of Murph and I this past fall. TBH, I was at the lowest of my lows when we took this picture. In 2021 I experienced the worst & longest lasting bout of depression that felt insurmountable. The day this photo was taken was part of a week where I cried non-stop. Murph held his paw out unsolicited and it gave me a brief reprieve from the storm in my mind. I'm so fortunate to have that moment captured. A reminder that small gestures can have big impacts. On NYE, I ended up choking on medication when I was alone in my car πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. After several failed attempts to self-rescue, I ran into the nearest building where my friend Chris was working. He gave me the heimlich several times and then several hard blows to the back. After what felt like an eternity, I was finally able to breathe again. I spent so much of this last year not wanting to feel anything because I was overwhelmed by my feelings, by the state of the world. When I was choking I couldn't feel anything - not the frozen snowbank my fists were gripping, not the tears running down my face. Suddenly all I wanted was to feel again. I wanted to feel air in my lungs and the warmth of a hug. Choking victims often feel panicked/embarrassed and tend to try to hide away from people. It's the worst reaction because you really need to run towards people. I hope that if we bring anything into this new year, it's the knowledge that we're not alone, small gestures are more important than we'll ever know, feeling things is fu***ng cool, and when in doubt to run towards people. To those that we've lost to su***de - may they live vicariously through us, may we be vessels for the love they didn't get to share. To those we almost lost - I'm proud of you for fighting through everything. We've yet to meet all of the people who will love us. 🧑

*update: the gift card has been found*
Happy Festivus from Murph and myself! There's a gift card stashed in a sign near a pair of puddles that meet a creek that shares a name with a well known palace across the pond. Happy hunting! Send me a message or tag me in a photo so I can update when it's found.

I hope you're being kind to yourself this holiday weekend. Whether it's your 20th holiday alone, or your first due to COVID, or maybe it looks normal but just doesn't feel the same. You matter more than how your holiday looks. Sending light and love and wishing you all the ability to be kind to your mind even when it seems like they're out to get us. 🧑

Hello! I won't be in the shop today because, well... anxiety! Lots of it. My brain has convinced myself that I'm a terrible-no-good-person-that's-bad-at-everything-and-the-state-of-the-world-is-overwhelming-and-it's-impossible-to-get-ahead-if-you're-not-a-white-man-born-into-money-and-even-if-you-do-find-financial-stability-does-it-matter-because-the-earth-will-literally-be-on-fire. Maybe you can relate, maybe not πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. So new plan, Murph and I are going to put on our favorite little sweaters and run our little errands and then go for a little nature walk. We're going to hide a gift card somewhere on a trail to maybe encourage you to get out of your head and into nature too. I'll also be doing deliveries tomorrow and will post flavor/ordering info tomorrow once I finish bottling everything. Thanks for your understanding. And well, if you don't understand that's okay too. I'll continue to attempt to normalize talking about mental health and maybe people will continue to think that it's not professional, but people over profits - always. Be kind to your mind, you matter more than anything you'll ever do or not do. 😊
