The New Scenic Café was created in the spring of 1999 by Scott Graden, with over 15 years of experience in concept and menu development, and Rita B, a well accomplished artist. Today, the New Scenic Café is a part of the North Shore experience. After five years of “See you Wednesday!” we’re finally back to seven days a week.

Beginning June 1st, New Scenic Cafe will once again be open DAILY from 11am-9pm!

We’ve missed being part of your Mondays; your random Tuesdays; your “Should we just drive up the shore?” moments.

Thanks for sticking with us through all the weirdness of the past few years.

We’re excited to have the lights on, the coffee brewing, and the doors open every day again.

AND, we'll be beginning to offer a few summertime "Fan Favorites"....Sashimi Tuna Tacos, Lobster Rolls, and Salmon Burgers

There are still a few spaces available for our upcoming COOKING CLASS with chef/owner, Scott Graden, at in Grand Marais!

"PLUMS" - 2 full days, Sat/Sun, September 6 & 7, 9am-5pm

"Feeling like you've explored every apple application? Baked every banana bread? Crafted every carrot cake? Bored with the usual fruit and veggie treats? That's the pits!

From breakfast to dessert, plumb the depths of possibilities posed by those delicious golden fleshed fruits with the iconic purple skin. Explore unique and delicious plum preparations with chef Scott Graden, owner of the New Scenic Café. Students will make chia porridge with prunes, seared duck breast with port prune purée, venison with French prune purée, plum pie, Swedish black plum cake, and more creations sure to inspire renewed admiration for the plum's versatility.

On day two, the class will culminate with a shared meal at around 4pm. Students may bring a guest to the meal."

To our wonderful guests,

Beginning on June 4th, we’ll be making some changes here at New Scenic Café.

Over the past few years, we’ve loved offering a selection of pastries, breads, and deli-style items—thank you for embracing them with such enthusiasm. As we look ahead, we’re shifting away from these offerings and will be removing the display cases that housed them. In their place, we’ll be placing the bar top that was part of our space a few years ago.

This change is part of a renewed focus on what we do best—creating a welcoming, thoughtful dining experience. The return of the bar will also allow us to offer a more comfortable space for guests to enjoy a drink while waiting for a table or simply soak in the atmosphere.

We know some of you will miss these items—we will too—but we’re excited about what’s ahead. Thank you for continuing to support us as we grow and adapt. We look forward to sharing this next chapter with you.
