When we opened our doors in October 2023, we had a vision for what we wanted The V to look and feel like. One of the most meaningful pieces of that vision was always our logo- the elk antlers forming the shape of a V.
We knew that someday, we wanted to bring that vision to life in a more tangible way. A three-dimensional piece that could live in our space, something you could actually see and touch. We just didn’t know when all the pieces would fall into place.
Then, this spring, a friend reached out about a beautiful pair of elk antlers he had found. They were exactly the size and shape we had been looking for. It felt like the first piece of the puzzle had found its way to us.
From there, we enlisted Mitchell with Tooth & Tine Skullworks, who cut, hand-peeled, and shaped the V to size using alpine spruce, then bolted and epoxied it into place.
As the finishing touch, our friend Tracy worked her own magic. With an incredibly delicate hand, she layered four coats of paint, carefully highlighting the natural texture and character of the wood while creating a finish that felt right alongside the elk antlers. It was the kind of detailed, thoughtful work that brought all the individual pieces together and made the vision feel complete.
And maybe that’s what makes this project so special to us.
Because, in so many ways, this is The V.
Something born from an idea, brought to life through the hands of local people, and made more meaningful because of the community surrounding it.
This logo is more than just a sign or a piece of branding to us.
It represents our name.
It represents where we are.
And it represents who we are.
A little piece of The V, made by many hands, right here in Dubois.
