October is almost upon us so the end of outdoor dining season is almost here. It’s hard to say how many days we have left but if it’s warm and dry, the Gene’s patio will be ready for you. We’re opening patio tables this Friday & Saturday and will have heaters on as needed. See you this weekend!

This dish feels like late summer at the golden hour—warm, languid, and just a little fleeting. There’s a richness to it, like hot dappled sunlight beaming through the trees. It’s golden without being heavy, vibrant without being loud, and carries that bittersweet sense that summer is still here, but you can feel it beginning to slip away.

Cocktail riffs aren’t ALWAYS better than the classics. But some (like a mint julep) just beg for a different jockey. Same bones—mint, spirit, crushed ice—but this one runs a smarter race. Try one at Gene’s this weekend in the spirit of the Derby and let us know what you think.

Looks like we’ve got a new VIP guest who didn’t bother with a reservation. But that’s just alright! 🦆

Meet Harriet. This mama mallard has chosen the back yard at Gene’s as her nesting suite, and we’re honored. Don’t worry—we’ll be respectful of her space, keeping things calm, and letting her do her thing. No rush, no pressure, just good vibes and a safe spot to call home. Around here, we believe great hospitality extends to all our guests…even the feathered ones.

If you notice her, give her space and send her some good energy. Baby pics forthcoming.
