Nicholas Hotel has been a landmark in Du Quoin, Illinois. After a devastating fire, the owners reconstructed The Hotel in 1879 at its original location at 12 Oak Street. For the next 125 years The Hotel served the people of Southern Illinois providing rooms, food, drink, and entertainment. Its location, situated near the train station, provided an ideal hub for travelers and residents. By 2005 The

Hotel was closed for business and abandoned. A piece of Du Quoin history was at great risk of being demolished, but The Hotel was identified as a historic site and the importance of "saving" it was recognized throughout the city. In 2009, renovations began toward the next phase of the building, the St. Years of neglect meant layers of wear had to be removed. The façade has been restored and the building has been structurally reinforced. After years of work, the St. Nick is ready to be a focal point in Du Quoin once more. Nicholas Brewing Company will open its doors this summer as a microbrewery and restaurant. All of our beer will be brewed in house to be paired with your favorite pizzas and sandwiches. We look forward to sharing our love for craft beer with the rest of Southern Illinois! The owners of the St. Nicholas Brewing Company share a love beer, bicycles, and great food. Support local. Drink local. Our Head brewer Carl is the driving force behind the festival and is repping St. Nicholas at the 2026 Mt. Vernon Brewers Festival and we couldn’t be more proud. Come find him and taste what we’ve been brewing, alongside some of the best local craft beer Southern Illinois has to offer. Ticket includes admission, a commemorative tasting glass, all beer sampling, and live music. Rain or shine. 21+.
