Nicholas Hotel has been a landmark in Du Quoin, Illinois. After a devastating fire, the owners reconstructed The Hotel in 1879 at its original location at 12 Oak Street. For the next 125 years The Hotel served the people of Southern Illinois providing rooms, food, drink, and entertainment. Its location, situated near the train station, provided an ideal hub for travelers and residents. By 2005 The

Hotel was closed for business and abandoned. A piece of Du Quoin history was at great risk of being demolished, but The Hotel was identified as a historic site and the importance of "saving" it was recognized throughout the city. In 2009, renovations began toward the next phase of the building, the St. Years of neglect meant layers of wear had to be removed. The façade has been restored and the building has been structurally reinforced. After years of work, the St. Nick is ready to be a focal point in Du Quoin once more. Nicholas Brewing Company will open its doors this summer as a microbrewery and restaurant. All of our beer will be brewed in house to be paired with your favorite pizzas and sandwiches. Yesterday, we watched true heroes at work. Some of them are still out there.

Our hearts are with our friends, neighbors, and community partners across the street. These are small businesses that lost everything in a matter of hours, and they are family to us. Du Quoin takes care of its own. In the days ahead, we will do everything we can, together, to help them rebuild.

To the firefighters and first responders who came from all over Southern Illinois: thank you. Your bravery and service will not be forgotten. Not by us, and not by this town.

A special thank you to our GM Riane’s dad, who worked through the night to save our coolers and was back here this morning still working hard.

We are opening at 11AM today. And because the least we can do is feed the people who showed up for us, we’re partnering with Prysmian to offer first responders and the street & water departments lunch or dinner today at St. Nicholas MDH or our flagship here in Du Quoin. Abby will be out personally delivering to our DQ crews.

5.5% ABV - A German-style amber l***r, rich & malty. Notes of caramel, biscuits, & toasted malt. We used a blend of German malts and hops and cold aged this b**r for several months.
