This year’s Maker’s Mark Private Select at Poppy’s is more than a bourbon; it’s a toast to New Bern and one of the businesses that has helped define it for generations.

Created in collaboration with Mitchell Hardware, this private barrel celebrates the history, character, and hospitality of one of New Bern’s most iconic stores. Its name, “Hello Friend, Welcome,” comes from the father of Mitchell Hardware’s current owners, a man who believed that everyone who walked through the door was a friend, and everyone was always welcome. That same spirit lives in this bottle.

This is an invitation to experience New Bern the way we believe it should be experienced: with history, hospitality, great conversation, and something memorable to share.
