WE'RE SPREADING LOVE BY THE POUND! I started baking in my parents' home as a teen. However, I laid down my spatula and many years passed before I resumed baking. Finally, I picked up my spatula to start baking the family Christmas tradition Fruit Cake using the recipe and sifter passed down from my Grandma and my mother. In time, family and friends started asking me to bake cakes, and I love seein

g how happy the cakes made them. Hence, Pound Cake Pleasures was born! When you think of Pound Cakes, you often have fond memories of the cakes that your mother and grandmother made. Baking moist, dense, made-from-scratch pound cakes is ALL that we do at Pound Cake Pleasures. From the classic Sour Cream to the decadent Chocolate Ganache, we are Spreading Love by the Pound! 🚨 Baking tip- Thoroughly grease and flour your cake pan for clean flip or release!

👨🏾‍🍳My coworker is greasing the pan using cake "goop" which is equal parts flour, shortening and vegetable oil. But you can choose plain shortening or butter and flour or baking spray.

🔑The key is to grease and flour every nook and cranny of your pan to prevent the cake from sticking to the pan.

❓️What does PERFECTION IS THE ENEMY OF PROGRESS mean to you? 

To me it means at least two things:

1️⃣ We get so caught up in striving for perfection that we can't complete the task or project.

2️⃣ You're so focused on trying to reach the top, that you can't enjoy the journey. 

Instead of focusing on perfection, try this:

1️⃣ Breakdown your tasks/projects into smaller, digestible chunks with achieveable milestones. This way you can get some "wins" sooner which will motivate you to keep going. 

2️⃣ Follow the 80/20 rule. Once you achieve 80% of your goal, do a status check and see if you should keep going or do you can stop there & save the rest for phase 2. This step can prevent frustration and burnout.

🚨Remember, Practice makes Progress. Focus on continuous growth not perfection. Enjoy the journey and stop at smell roses along the way!

♥️Although Pres Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on 1/1/1863 to free enslaved people, more than 250,000 slaves in TX didn't get the word until 2 ½ yrs later.

🖤On 6/19/1865, Major General Granger arrived in Galveston Bay, TX with the announcement of their freedom.

💚On 6/17/21, former Pres. Biden signed a bill to make Juneteenth a National Holiday!🤗

🟥The color red has a significant meaning in Juneteenth celebrations. Red foods like Red Velvet Cake honor the bloodshed & resilience of our African American ancestors.

🚨BAKING TIP - If cake is sweet, why do I need salt? 🤔

🧂Traditional pound cake recipes did not call for salt. However many current recipes call for a small amount or "pinch" of salt.

✅️Here are 3 benefits of adding salt to pound cakes:

1️⃣ Salt balances the sweetness of the sugar⚖️

2️⃣ Salt tightens or controls the gluten strands in the flour, which makes for a better texture/crumb and rise. ➰️

3️⃣ Salt enhances the flavor of your extracts like vanilla & other flavors in your batter like chocolate or lemon. 😋
