Dear friends and family of Los Bobos Cafeteria and Deli,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you that our cafeteria will be closing its doors come this Friday, December 30th. Although our doors will close, we remain with open hearts and minds filled with the fondest memories of our times with you.
In the early summer of 1980, Los Bobos Cafeteria and Deli opened its doors and my family’s hearts to the public. Calixta, Antonio and their 7 year old son welcomed the community into their humble corner shop. For nearly 45 years the doors and hearts remained swung wide open teaming with authentic Cuban hospitality and food. This cafeteria hasn’t just been my family’s way of making a means, it has been my home. Through those doors have walked familiar smiling faces, new friends flustered by the plethora of options and the older women that work the counter…watching me slowly double in height. I have loved every single one of these faces.
Life brings us hard changes. Although it is tempting for me to tearfully ask for one more early morning, watching my father welcome in the 5am breakfast club…I ask that instead you, our family, join me in being grateful for those beautiful moments we shared in this space.
