“31 years old shouldn’t mean fighting for your life.”
I don’t personally know Michael Collins, but a friend mentioned him during a conversation, and his story has stayed with me.
I keep thinking about when I was 31. That’s one of the most beautiful ages — building a future, chasing dreams, and believing life is just beginning.
For the past four years, Michael has been battling cancer. Now at just 34 years old, he’s facing a fight no one should ever have to endure. He’s gone through grueling treatments, and right now he can’t even eat and speak because of his condition. It’s hard to imagine the strength it takes just to get through each day.
Michael’s mom, Leslie, shared with me that someone generously flew them to Texas for appointments and treatment, and even provided them with a hotel to stay in. In moments like this, you truly see how much kindness still exists in the world.
Sometimes you don’t need to know someone your entire life to care deeply about them. Sometimes the right thing is simply to help.
Peking will be hosting a 3-day fundraiser for Michael Collins from June 8 through June 10. During these three days, 100% of profits will go directly toward helping Michael with his medical and financial expenses. We will also have a donation box available at the restaurant for anyone who would like to contribute further.
Our community has always had a big heart. If you can stop by, share this post, or keep him in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean more than words can say.
Because 34 is far too young to fight a battle like this alone. ❤️
