Leong’s Chinese Carry Out, the Story
Born in the upstairs flat of my parents Chinese laundry in the late 50’s. Survived the riots of 1967, I remember seeing the tanks roll down Gratiot Ave. Immigrant parents from China, not speaking English, would work long hours washing, pressing and ironing laundry, sending four kids through college. I would convert Sun Chinese Laundry to Leong’s Chinese Carry Out in the late 70’s. Glad to be serving the East Side of Detroit for over 30 years!
