We tried to go to this Michelin bib gourmand restaurant in Chiang Mai, and it was late and far, but we decided to take a chance. Even though we arrived 20 minutes before close, it was too late and they were no longer seating guests. Far from our hotel, and in a part of town we weren’t familiar with, not wanting to waste a trip, we looked around to see what else was there. Across the way was a bright little place on an otherwise dark street. It seemed lively and there was this energy radiating from it. So naturally, I said, that definitely looks open. Let’s check it out! And that’s how we found ourselves at .slowfish. To our surprise, it happened to be on the bib gourmand list and rightly so. With its concept of bringing fresh fish daily from the south coast, pretty much the catch of the day is what goes on the grill and once it’s gone, it’s gone. The rest of the menu highlights seafood cooked in different ways, but all displaying the familiar vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. That’s the great thing about travel. You never know where it will lead you, but hopefully somewhere delicious and memorable. We hope to do the same for you through . This fried snapper “tostada” on the menu at Frame this weekend is inspired by Maadae. Fresh ginger, lemongrass, and shallots in its rawest form doesn’t shy away from Southeast Asian flavors. It’s spicy and bright and herbaceous. And we can’t wait for you to try it!
