Vernor’s, Better Made chips and Duly Dogs… The best of Detroit - reunited at last at Duly’s!

We now have Vernor’s by the can at Duly’s! Old school, Dulys Nation will remember we served Vernor’s back in the day. Regrettably, Coca-Cola stopped providing it to us over 20 years ago

Just as regrettable, our 40 year old Coca-Cola soda dispensers gave out. To our regret, the Coca-Cola distributor could not get us updated (and small) soda distribution equipment for our equally as small and humble 100+ year-old restaurant.

Pepsi jumped at the chance… we have tripled soda: Pepsi, sweet tea, fruit punch, lemonade, Pepsi-zero, Mountain Dew, Orange Crush and Starry (takes like Sprite)

We know that some of our Duly’s Nation family will be disappointed at not being able to have Coca-Cola… And we regret things just didn’t work out. On the other hand, for those who are looking for a variety, we have tripled what we now have available for your favorite breakfast, burger or Duly Dog!

By removing stainless steel counter for the new pop and soda dispensary, we are also able to add in cans of Vernor’s, which we are thrilled to have back!

Duly Dogs, Vernor’s and Better Made chips -
Affordable and Southwest Detroit delivered.

Many prayers for our friends at E&L Market….

E&L has been a member of this community for a long long time and we appreciate all they do to contribute to how amazing it is to live in Southwest Detroit.

Only old school residence of Southwest Detroit will remember the Tre-Way apartments.

Located across from Roosevelt Park and the Michigan Central train station - it was a big place for sure. While now it is a parking lot, in 1980 many of the Cuban refugees who fled in the Mariel boat-lift went to stay in Detroit.

Duly’s does not recall when it burned down - but does recall that the fire was massive.

Well…there it is, for those of you who remember way back in the day - Detroit St. Hedwig High School from 1947 - 1948.

At one time we had all the following high schools in greater Southwest Detroit: Holy Redeemer, St. Hedwig, St. Gabriel, All Saints, St. Vincent, Holy Trinity, St. Casmir, St. Boniface, St. Anne and St. Andrew - in addition to Southwestern High School as well.

All that being said - today we celebrate the High School Blue and Gold Knights of St. Hedwig…Go Knights!

What a great article on Zug Island from Bridge Detroit! This covers so much of Zug Island’s history.

Perhaps the finance guy who wants to develop Belle Isle with condos and hotels might want to focus on something luxurious for Zug Island instead. Imagine - condos on Belle Isle….lol

Early ideas for the island included a city garbage dump with a promise of the operations being “smokeless and odorless,” or improving the land into a “healthful resort similar in attractiveness to Belle Isle.”

Duly's remembers when Mayor Coleman Young proposed jai alai horse racing, hotels and gambling casinos all on the island as well.

Every 10 years or so someone proposes a plan to develop Belle Isle. Then the person and they proposal go away.

Nope...in our best Spanish: "No Bueno"!

Having spent his career as a developer, Rodney Lockwood now has a bigger, bolder vision: transforming the historic island of Belle Isle into an all-encompass...
