π₯ TWO UNICORNS JUST HIT THE BAR AT PAPO'S π₯
Papo's Bar & Smoked BBQ | Detroit, Oregon
We don't just grab any bottle. We hunt for the ones worth talking about. Two new limited pours are now behind the bar:
1. WILD TURKEY 101 - AGED 8 YEARS - The Rare Breed
You know regular Wild Turkey 101. This is its big brother.
β’ What it is: 101 proof, 50.5% ABV, Lawrenceburg, KY. Same legendary mash bill (75% corn / 13% rye / 12% malted barley) that Master Distiller Jimmy Russell has perfected for 70 years, but left for a full 8 years in deep Alligator Char No. 4 barrels. β’ Flavor Profile: This is bold, not hot. Vanilla, toffee, charred oak, black cherry, clove, lemon zest, with that signature Wild Turkey peppery kick on the finish. β’ Uniqueness & Rarity: Wild Turkey rarely releases an 8-year age statement at 101 proof anymore. Most 101 is 6-8 years blended with no age statement. This bottle says 8 YEARS right on the front β meaning every drop in it is at least 8 years old. Longer maturation = richer, smoother, more mature, but still 100% that bold Turkey character. Hard to find in Oregon right now.
2. MICHTER'S US*1 SMALL BATCH - EST. 1753 - The Refined One
America's first wh***ey company.
β’ What it is: 91.4 proof, 45.7% ABV, Louisville, KY. Originally founded as Shenk's in Pennsylvania in 1753 β before the Revolutionary War. Now distilled in Louisville and known as the benchmark for small batch quality. β’ Flavor Profile: This is the opposite of burn. Plush, full-bodied, refined. Rich caramel, Madagascar vanilla bean, stone fruit, butterscotch, hazelnut toffee, baking spice, toasted oak. The finish is long where wood notes mingle with sweet maple syrup. β’ Uniqueness & Rarity: Michter's is allocated everywhere. You can't just order it β you get what you get. US*1 is their entry, but it's still small batch, meaning max 20 barrels per batch, hand-selected. No other bourbon under $60 drinks this smooth. It's the bourbon for people who think they don't like bourbon.
One is bold and peppery. One is smooth and sweet. Both are on a barrel top in our rickhouse right now.
Limited bottles. When they're gone, they're gone.
Come have a pour and tell us which side you're on β Team Turkey or Team Michter's?
