Kava DSM Downtown Des Moines location permanently closed pending a move. Opening date, TBD. We are located at 300 W. Martin Luther King Jr.

Kava is an herb from the South Pacific used as a tea and social drink for its calming effect. We use it Kava DSM to bring people together and enjoy a social setting without alcohol. Our Fall 2024 hours are Mondays through Thursdays 8AM to 1PM and 5PM to 8:30PM; Fridays 8AM to 9PM, Saturdays 9AM to 9PM and Sundays 9AM to 7PM. PKWY 140 next to Fuzzy Tacos, and Blaze Pizza. Parking up to two hours in the parking lot is validated in the café , free. Over two hours there is a parking fee.

LAST DAY OPEN. 🥹🤎

All the feels today.

After so many memories, so many familiar faces, so many cups of kava, smoothies, gelato runs, brunches, conversations, laughs, and moments shared in this space… today is our final day open at this location.

We’ll be here 9 AM–2 PM today, and then we’ll officially close the doors and begin the move-out process.

It’s definitely bittersweet. We’re sad to say goodbye to this chapter, but incredibly grateful for every single person who has walked through these doors and supported us along the way.

If you’ve been meaning to stop in one more time, today is the day. Come see us, grab your favorites, and help us send this little place off with a whole lot of love. 🤎

And remember, this isn’t goodbye to Kava DSM. It’s just goodbye to this location.

Who else is going to miss our gelato?! 🍨😭

We definitely are.

As we get closer to closing this location, it’s starting to hit us just how much we’re going to miss this place. And yes, we’re going to miss having this incredible gelato right here whenever the craving hits.

But even more, we’re going to miss all of YOU who stop in for gelato on a regular basis. The families coming over from baseball games, the farmers market crowds, everyone downtown for concerts, festivals and events, and those of you who simply come in because it’s a gelato kind of day. 🍦❤️

So many memories have been made here.

Today is our LAST FRIDAY at this location, and we would absolutely love to see you! Come grab a gelato, hang out with us, and help us make these last few days good ones.

Okay, so we changed the lyrics a little, but this mocktail is delicious! 🌴🍍

Our Kava Kolada is made with organic coconut cream, pineapple, orange juice, and of course, kava, all blended together until creamy and delicious and finished with a sprinkle of cocoa powder. It’s our alcohol-free, kava-infused twist on the classic Puerto Rican Piña Colada.

And can we talk about those pineapple glasses? 🍍 They’re seriously the coolest!

Our Banana Nut Waffle is warm, golden and topped with fresh banana, crunchy walnuts, a dollop of coconut cream and pure maple syrup. Pair it with a creamy tropical Kava Colada and you’ve basically got vacation for breakfast. ☀️

Our “Sandcastle” smoothie bowl is basically summer in a bowl. 🏖️☀️

Citrusy, fresh and perfectly tropical, we blend organic mango, peaches, pineapple and bananas with organic coconut water and orange juice. Then we top it with thin slices of fresh organic orange and a sprinkle of paleo granola for the perfect little crunch.

Bright. Refreshing. Tropical. And definitely giving “I should be sitting on a beach somewhere” vibes. 🌴

And if going to the beach isn’t an option today, come see us at Kava DSM. We’ll bring a little bit of the beach to Des Moines. 🥭🍍🍊

Good morning from a cloudy Des Moines! ☁️🌺 But who says we need sunshine to feel a little Sunkissed? 😉

Our Sunkissed smoothie bowl brings plenty of brightness all on its own. That gorgeous, vibrant magenta color comes naturally from a blend of organic dragon fruit, strawberries, mango, banana, and coconut water.

Then we top it with fresh organic banana and strawberries, coconut flakes, bee pollen, and beautiful edible cosmos petals. 🌸

Refreshing, fruity, colorful, and almost too pretty to eat. Almost. 😏

This is your reminder that today is the last Monday to enjoy Kava DSM at our current location. We’ll be closing permanently at 2 PM next Sunday, August 30, as we prepare to move to our new location. We take our gelato very seriously around here! It’s the perfect Sunday for a sundae! Open until 7 PM tonight for the last time on a Sunday night! We are closing our doors next Sunday at 2 PM pending our transition over the next few months to Waukee. (See pinned post for more details.)
