After emptying the salt and pepper shakers, Anna Diamantis walked to each plum-colored booth in the main room of the Freeway Diner in Deptford Tuesday and unloaded the sugar jars.

The Freeway, purchased by the Diamantis brothers and their two cousins in 1978, pulled up a stool at the big breakfast counter in the sky on Memorial Day.
