Pictured here is Mommy and my youngest sisters, the Twins—Malikah & Malaak. What’s remarkable of is that all 6 of her daughters know our Dad and can share vivid stories of him, his undying love, his moral compass, his wisdom, strategic and organizational skills, and his beautiful smile.

You’d not know that the twins never laid eyes on him or that my sisters and I were all babies (ages 6,4,2,1)—when our father was politically assassinated in front of us. My mother was pregnant with the beautiful Twins.

And yet, she refused to be a victim! She never accepted, “no” or “I can’t” as an answer for herself. She safeguarded her husband’s true legacy, and she lead with love and in the Most High. In spite of the man-made challenges, education was highly valued. She drove from our home in NY once a week to Univ of Mass at Amherst College and earned a PhD. She established YMED (Young Mothers Educational Development program) to ensure young u***d women’s education was not interrupted so that they too could be, do, and give their best.

Ode to all of our mothers no matter the circumstance, ode to the , a beautiful song to be sung for each one of us no matter where we are in the world... 🎶
