In honor of everyone gathered for Tiki Time with Trader Vince as this is posted, let's raise a bowl to one of tiki's true icons.
The Scorpion Bowl wasn't created to be sipped alone.
Created by Victor "Trader Vic" Bergeron in the 1940s, it became one of tiki's defining communal cocktails—a bowl set in the middle of the table, long straws all around, and the understanding that some drinks are simply better shared.
The original recipe centered around cognac, rum, fresh citrus, orgeat, and sugar. More than 80 years later, it's still one of the greatest examples of balance in tropical cocktails.
We don't believe classics need to be reinvented. They deserve to be understood.
Our Scorpion Bowl starts with the bones of Trader Vic's original—cognac, rum, citrus, orgeat, and sugar—then adds Holmes Cay Heritage Rum, Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac, and The Family Jones Gin for an unmistakably Adrift take.
The result honors the original while bringing a little Colorado into the bowl.
Here's to one of tiki's greatest cocktails. And to everyone spending their Sunday learning why it has stood the test of time. Aloha! 🤙
