Our Story

The Cozy Cottage came into being in 2006 as a collaboration between entrepreneur Jeanette Mueller and her son Michael, wanting to craft an authentic “fresh to table” restaurant. For the first five years it occupied a tiny space on south Downing St. in the DU area of Denver, before moving to the current location on Tennyson St. in the exploding Highlands of Denver. The menu is based upon a restaurant Jeanette ran from 1979-1989 called The Blue Bird Café, a hugely successful eatery in the blossoming Cherry Creek business district. This is where Michael began his journey in the restaurant industry at the age of 8. The restaurant prided itself on the Quality of the food, made from scratch, with the finest quality ingredients. The Cozy Cottage emulates that ideal, with the added emphasis on locally sourced meats and produce.

All our recipes have been handed down from generation to generation. “Fresh to table” means all our food is made “in House”, to order, with the freshest ingredients available. Unfortunately Jeanette left us in October of 2011. Michael carries on more than 30 years of family tradition by providing the finest quality food, served in a warm welcoming atmosphere. The core values of the restaurant are consistency, quality, value, sustainability, and personalized service.
