A friend relayed the ancient Buddhist teaching: "Embrace your depression." The suggestion made sense to me: If depression is an aspect of who I am and I evade depression - I evade myself. I woke one morning after three months of consuming anguish and fear, not only to find my depression gone, but also the self-defeating identities that had humiliated me throughout life. I spent the next twenty years formulating an organic approach to wellness that incrementally brings the practitioner to a place of wisdom, maturity and a growing appreciation of their ever arising self.
