CLOSED WEDNESDAY 9/2!

Quote of the Day: "Plot Twists Are Part of the Story."

Well... today's plot twist came bright and early. 😂

My morning was already a little hectic because this is the one day of the week I take my daughter to school and open the coffee shop. I rushed into The Katy Cup to get a head start on my pre-opening work before heading to school, only to discover that my main refrigerator had gone out overnight taking a whole lot of my inventory with it.

Sometimes you can make the best plans, do all the prep, and feel completely ready for the week...and then life throws you a curveball.

At that point, you can stand there and cry (which admittedly crossed my mind 😂), or you can accept that today isn't going according to plan, pivot, and do what needs to be done.

So, unfortunately, The Katy Cup will be CLOSED TODAY.

Instead of serving coffee, I'll be spending the day rebuilding making fresh batches of syrups, cold brew and tea, restocking milk and ingredients, and getting my equipment looked at.

I'm hoping to be back up and running tomorrow with a fully stocked menu and some really tasty things coming your way!

Not quite how I planned to start the week, but plot twists are part of the story.

And sometimes you just have to roll with them. ☕❤️

Quote of the Day: "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

I got out early for a walk before opening the coffee shop this morning, and it already feels like we're starting to see little hints of the changing season.

I absolutely cannot wait for fall! I've already been pondering my fall coffee menu and dreaming up all the cozy flavors and treats I want to bring to The Katy Cup.

I'm someone who naturally wants to rush ahead and get everything done right now, but I'm constantly reminding myself that some things simply take time. You can do the work, plant the seeds, and keep moving forward, but sometimes you also have to let things unfold in their own time.

And since fall is on my mind, I need your help!

🍁 What fall treat do you look forward to every year?

☕ What's your favorite fall coffee flavor? Which one would you love to see at The Katy Cup? Pumpkin? Maple? Pecan? Apple? Something completely different?

I'd love to hear your ideas as I work on the fall menu!

Today's Highlights:

🫐 Lemon Blueberry Cobbler

🥣 Soup: Fire Roasted Beef Taco

🥗 Salads: Thai Peanut Chicken & Poppy Seed Chicken Pasta

Whew, it's felt like a long week!

The day is already halfway over and I'm just getting fully settled in. After being almost completely sold out yesterday, I spent the evening and this morning whipping up all kinds of good things to finish the week strong.

I can't help but be incredibly grateful for all the support you've shown this little coffee shop and bakery. ❤️

Quote of the Day: Find joy in the little moments, for they are what make up our life.

Not every day needs a big lesson or a grand adventure.

Life is made up of the simple things. It's easy to miss these moments when we're always rushing toward what's next.

My reminder for myself is to slow down, pay attention, and notice the good stuff.

Caramel Brownies and Gluten Free Brownies

Quote of the Day: "Fall in Love With Your Life."

While it's been another simmering Texas week, I can't help but feel like fall is in the air.

There's something about this time of year that always feels like a transition. New schedules, changing routines, the promise of cooler temperatures, and a natural invitation to slow down and reflect.

With so much change in my own life with opening this business to moving and starting another new chapter, I've found myself looking around lately and feeling incredibly grateful for where this year has brought me.

Little by little, choice by choice, I've created a life that I genuinely love.

I love spending my days feeding people.

I love the random conversations that happen across the coffee counter.

I love living in a town with a vibrant downtown where I can walk to little shops and great places to eat.

I love that so many people I've met through this community I can now call friends, and that living in a small town means I rarely go anywhere without running into someone I know.

None of it happened overnight. It was built slowly, through a lot of changes, some difficult decisions, and plenty of uncertainty along the way.

And maybe that's part of what it means to fall in love with your life.

Not waiting until everything is perfect to enjoy it. Not waiting for some future version of your life to finally make you happy.

But looking around at the life you're living right now and noticing what's already beautiful about it.

Fall always reminds me to pause, look back at how far I've come, and then turn my attention toward finishing the year strong.

There's still so much I want to do, so much I want to create, and so much I want to accomplish.

But there's also so very much to be grateful for.

Build a life you don't have to escape from and don't forget to enjoy it while you're building it!

Quote of the Day: "You Haven't Met All the People Who Are Going to Love You Yet."

I heard this quote the other day, and it stuck with me.

I used to think of almost everything in terms of forever. I wanted the friendships that lasted a lifetime, the marriage that lasted forever, and the people I loved to always be there.

But over time, I've realized that not everyone is meant to stay, and not every season of our lives is meant to last.

Sometimes we can simply appreciate people, places, and experiences for the role they played in our story, and let them go when it's time.

You are the main character in your own book, and life is lived in chapters.

Some people will be there for a page. Some will stay for an entire chapter. And, if you're lucky, a few will be woven throughout the whole book.

Learning to look at life this way has made me much less afraid of change.

I've opened myself up to new experiences, new places, and new friendships. Along the way, I've fallen in love with my community and built relationships I never could have anticipated a few years ago.

And that's what I love most about this quote:

There are still people you haven't met. Places you haven't been. Experiences you haven't had. Chapters you haven't even begun.

You have no idea what's waiting around the corner.

So embrace the change. Appreciate the chapter you're in. Let go when it's time. Find your joy and notice the beauty around you.

There's still so much of your story left to be written. ❤️

And because sometimes we don't need anything quite that deep and we just need a little fun...

Because sprinkles just make life better.

Quote of the Day: Peace Isn’t Found, It’s Created.

Creating peace in my life has been one of my biggest focuses over the past few years.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress and chaos of everyday life. The demands, expectations, responsibilities, and sometimes the drama of the world around us can feel like a lot.

But I’ve learned that we are responsible for protecting our own peace.

It’s not something we’re given. It’s not something we have to wait to find. It’s something we intentionally create.

For me, I’ve found it’s usually the small things that make the biggest difference.

My mornings are pretty full these days getting my daughter ready for school, sitting in carpool lines, or getting the coffee shop up and running.

But occasionally I wake up extra early and sneak out for a walk while the world is still quiet. It’s still dark, the streets are empty, and slowly the sun starts peeking over the horizon.

This morning was one of those mornings.

I took my time walking back to the Depot, watched the sunrise, and simply enjoyed the stillness for a little while. It’s my favorite time of day and something I don’t get to enjoy nearly as often as I’d like.

Life may be busy. You may have a lot on your shoulders. You may not be able to escape all of the noise around you.

But you can find small ways to create a little peace within it.

And if you need a place to slow down, create a little calm in your day, or simply take a quiet moment for yourself, I’d love to share this little corner of the Depot with you.

I’ll see you at The Katy Cup!

Quote of the Day: A Cluttered Life Creates a Cluttered Mind

I've been a little overwhelmed lately.

It's back-to-school season, I'm moving and significantly downsizing, and I'm growing a business that's shifting from simply getting started to finding its footing and figuring out what comes next. There are so many demands on our time and so many things competing for our attention. It can be hard to find a sense of peace and calm.

That's actually been one of my biggest goals for this little corner coffee shop in the Katy Depot...to create a retreat. A little escape. A spot of sunshine in the middle of the day.

Working with just over 100 square feet and turning it into a full commercial kitchen has forced me to be thoughtful about what I bring into the space. There simply isn't room for everything. Now I'm applying that same idea at home but thankfully with a little more than 100 square feet!

As my daughter and I prepare to move, we've been talking a lot about different ways people choose to live. Tiny houses, van life, school bus conversions, minimalism, and even the other extreme with shows like Hoarders. The lesson I've been trying to teach her, while also reminding myself, is that less really can be more.

Not less of the things you love. Less of the things you have to manage.

The more clutter I clear out, the calmer life is beginning to feel. I want my home to be a sanctuary, a place that restores me instead of adding to my mental load. And I know that when I'm not using so much energy managing everything around me, I'll have more room for creativity, growth, and all the things I want to build at The Katy Cup.

For now, though, I'm reminding myself to slow down, breathe, and keep going.

Perfection isn't the goal. Consistency is.

And speaking of keeping things simple, there is no Scone of the Day today, but I do have an amazing Chicken & Black Bean Enchilada Soup waiting for you as well as other sweet treats!

I have no food photos but will share picture of my plants, which naturally became the first priority of the move!

See you at The Katy Cup. ☕

Quote of the Day: "We first make our habits, and then our habits make us."

With all the change and growth in my life over the past few years, this is something I've thought about often. What small, daily habits can I build that will slowly create momentum? I've learned to focus less on the end goal and more on the daily actions that lead to it. That simple shift in perspective has changed the way I approach both life and business.

As a solo entrepreneur, it can be overwhelming. There are endless decisions to make and endless possibilities to chase. While that's exciting, I've learned to step back and ask myself a different question. Not just "Can I do this?" but "Does this fit the life I'm trying to build?"

How do I want my days to look? How do I want to spend my time? What work gives me energy instead of draining it? What kind of person am I becoming through the choices I make today?

One piece of advice that has stuck with me is this: Act like the person you want to become.

For a long time, I felt like my life was on hold. I thought I'd become that future version of myself once I had the right job, the right house, the right circumstances, or the right opportunity. But that day never magically arrived.

One of my favorite gardeners, Jessica Sowards, shared a quote that completely changed my perspective: "Turn your waiting room into a classroom."

You may not have the perfect property, but you can start the garden.

You may not have the perfect kitchen, but you can bake the cake.

You may not have your dream business yet, but you can begin learning the skills you'll need when you do.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Don't wait for perfection.

I've found myself asking a simple question throughout the day:

"If I were already living the life I'm trying to create, what would I be doing right now?"

Maybe I'd read instead of scrolling.
Maybe I'd go for the walk.
Maybe I'd practice the skill.
Maybe I'd invite a friend to coffee.

Those little choices don't seem significant in the moment, but over time they become habits. And eventually those habits become the life we're living.

So today, ask yourself:
✨ What habit is moving you toward the life you want?
✨ What distraction is keeping you stuck?
✨ What old version of yourself do you need to let go of to make room for the new one?

You don't have to change everything today.
Just start with one small habit.
Because we first make our habits... and then our habits make us.
