Delray Beach, Florida is the Village by the Sea. Established in the late 1800s and incorporated in 1911. Florida had been inhabited by Native Americans. The First settlers to Delray Beach came from the Bahamas, Michigan, Pennsylvania and North Florida. Delray Beach features many historic and famous districts among them are Downtown Delray Beach, Pineapple Grove Arts District, West Settlers Historic District and Frog Alley. Downtown Delray Beach is a vibrant area of culture, dining and entertainment. The City of Delray Beach is a small town boasting more than 65,000 residents and a lot of creativity. Community feedback will be considered as part of the City’s ongoing operational assessment.

COMMUNITY MEETING: The City of Delray Beach invites residents and stakeholders to share their thoughts and experiences regarding Delray Beach Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30
Delray Beach Community Center Gymnasium, 50 NW 1st Avenue

The meeting will be led by Kuehne Cemetery Consulting and the Office of the City Manager as part of the City’s independent assessment of cemetery operations and future planning.

Community input will help inform the consultant’s findings and recommendations. All are welcome to attend.

Today, Delray Beach Fire Rescue joins our nation in marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others.
Twenty-five years later, their courage, service and sacrifice remain an enduring example for firefighters and first responders everywhere.
We also honor the survivors, the families forever changed, and all those who responded in the days, months and years that followed.
We will never forget.
