✨TEN YEARS✨

ten years ago today, we opened our doors. we had a lot of dreams and no idea how much this community would come to mean to us.

we’ve shared countless morning routines, watched you and your families grow, and survived the beautiful chaos of building a small business. we are only here today because you kept showing up and making our spaces feel like home. our goal has always been to invest back into Walworth County and to help in making our community a beautiful, vibrant place to live. thank you for a decade of support and friendships.

the thing we’ve always loved most about this business is the people. there’s something so special about being across the counter from someone, having a conversation, sharing a laugh, and actually getting to know each other. technology makes so many things easier, but we never want to lose that part of what makes a place like this special. we’ll always choose the people behind the counter, the artists, the makers, and the talented humans who make all of this possible.

so, to celebrate today, we want to have a little fun with you at the counter. if you come in today and do a quick dance when you place your order, we’ll take a dollar off your bill! let’s share a laugh, put our phones away for a minute, and celebrate T E N years together.

yesterday’s answers: 3-b (we actually opened on friday, may 6, 2016, right before mother’s day, ran for 7 weeks, and closed down until september 17. our owners made that september date our official open because there was no turning back. that’s when they decided they were going all in) and 4-a (a skyjack lift actually fell through the barn roof before day one, causing a 35-foot hole in the roof and blowing out a sidewall).

yesterday’s answers! 1-b (we were a garden center and farmers market) and 2-a (we bought our first coffee from gotham roasters).

bonus history: after those early days, we expanded to our second location inside the lake geneva piggly wiggly on october 10, 2018, which is where we first started roasting our own coffee in february 2019.

question 3: back when we started out in 2016, what unexpected step did we take during our very first summer?

a) we only opened the shop on rainy days

this thursday, we are officially hitting a massive milestone, our 10-year anniversary!

it’s been a decade since we poured our very first cup of coffee. we started this journey with a lot of big dreams, but it is your endless support that helped build Boxed & Burlap. looking back at the last ten years, we are so grateful for the community that has grown around us.
