It's time to say a final farewell to our Java John's Coffee House as we pass the torch! We are excited to announce the plans going forward and know that our Java John's customers will be thrilled with the new look and the new vision!
Susannah (Susie) Cole Billington (former DHS and Luther grad) and her husband Barry Billington are the new owners of our Water Street building including The Water Street Flat AIrbnb/VRBO. They have leased the coffee house to Rod (Flash) Flaskerud and Cheryl Haggarty who are busy transforming their business THE LEFSE LODGE into a wonderful coffee/food venue. Rod is famous for his own handmade lefse, kringla, rommegrot and ham balls at the Farmers Market. And yes, we gave them the chicken salad recipe along with our pastry recipes. You will get the benefit of the old and the new! Can't beat that!

Rod and Cheryl, along with Rod's son, Phil make a great team to operate this Norwegian enhanced business. We don't want to divulge the surprises they have planned, but rest assured, they are renovating the interior and working hard to greet you sometime in October. They are talented and have great ideas as well as wonderful support from Susie and Barry!

Thank you for five and a half years of supporting us at Java John's! We will miss our customers and staff who have become our friends. However, we are on to retirement and forming our own new ventures.

Today, we served our coffee and pastries for the last time to our Java John's customers. Thank you to all who stopped by to share kind words and wish us well. A special thanks to all of our regular customers who have made our coffee shop their daily routine. Thanks for the memories! A big thanks to our great staff: Jess, Jaime, Sophia, Leila--our summer was so much better with you on our team! We wish you life's blessings as you go on to college and new career ventures. And we owe a huge THANK YOU to our two morning bakers who packed the pastry case with delicious Java John's treats every day for several years-- Lela Numedahl and Anita Weis! You two totally rock! We couldn't have done it without you! We will miss your handiwork in the kitchen, but we will cherish your friendship always.
We will spend some time now preparing the shop for new ownership coming soon. Stay tuned!

Wednesday, August 7th, is our last day operating Java John's. We will not be cooking breakfast or lunch but will offer our fresh baked pastries and coffee/espresso drinks until 11:00 a.m. We will soon be passing the torch and wishing much success to new ownership! You will want to stay tuned!

In planning for a change in ownership of Java John's Coffee House, we plan to close our stint at operating Java John's after our regular hours on Wednesday, August 7th. This will allow us time to prepare the shop and building for the new owner to reopen. It's always an exciting time when one door closes and a new one opens! We have appreciated all the support and friendship we've received in the past 5 & 1/2 years owning the business. We are excited for new adventures ahead for us and for new ownership.
