Today was such an unexpected honor, and I’m truly humbled.

Thank you to JB’s at the River for recognizing our business as one of the anchors of this community. Your kind words about who we are and what we stand for meant more than you know. You didn’t just talk about serving food—you recognized the relationships we’ve built over the years, the place we’ve become for friends and families to gather, and the belief that being part of a community means showing up for people during both the joyful moments and the difficult ones. Whether it’s supporting local charities, attending funerals, celebrating milestones, or simply being a place where neighbors come together, that’s what has always mattered most to us.

One thing I especially admire is what you’re doing for our community. It would be easy to focus only on your own business, but instead you’ve chosen to shine a light on others and remind everyone that our local businesses are stronger when we support one another. We may all be in business, but kindness, encouragement, and love for our community should always come first.

Thank you for the beautiful recognition, the thoughtful words, and for believing in what we do. We wish you nothing but success as you bring new life to a local business and continue creating a place that brings people together. Our community is better because of people like you.

We’re honored, grateful, and cheering you on every step of the way.

I am thrilled to nominate The Diner for the JB’s Community Award.🍽️❤️

The Diner isn't just a place to grab a bite; it’s a true family restaurant in every sense of the word. The second you walk through the door, you’re greeted like an old friend. Everyone knows everyone by name, and the staff remembers what you like and exactly how you like it—without fail. They operate on a level of trust you just don't see anymore; if you happen to forget your cash, they’ll simply write your name down (though none of us should make a habit of it!).

Their commitment to our town goes far beyond the dining room:

Community Fundraisers: They regularly partner with the local motorcycle club to drive support for crucial local causes.

Resilience: After facing a devastating fire, their ability to fully rebuild and come back stronger than ever was nothing short of extraordinary.

The Local Hub: It’s the ultimate gathering spot to catch up on local news, cheer on school sports, and share a bit of friendly neighborhood gossip.

Lifetime Loyalty: When you become family here, you stay family. It’s not uncommon to see half the staff attending the funeral of a long-time regular to pay their respects.

At the heart of it all is Nicki, who has been a pillar of our community for years. She has provided reliable employment to generations of locals—often hiring parents and later giving their kids their very first jobs.

The Diner represents the absolute best of our community spirit, generosity, and heart. They deserve this recognition more than anyone!

(P.S. To the hard-working team at The Diner: enjoy your free cheese sticks this week—you’ve earned them!)✅
