Happy Anniversary from your children!

09/30/2026

Over the past few months, Hard Times Family Restaurant has been honored to host the monthly gatherings of some of the finest retired law enforcement officers and public servants who have served our community and surrounding area.

We want to take a moment to recognize and thank each of these individuals who were able to join us at our last gathering for their many years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to protecting and serving our communities. We hope you are all enjoying your well-earned retirement — although we know that for many of you, “retirement” doesn't necessarily mean slowing down! 😊

👮‍♂️ Retired MSP Detective/Lt. Mike Bowie — 26 years
⭐ Retired Former VBCSO Sheriff Dale Gribler — 42 years
👮‍♂️ Retired MSP Trooper Bob Zinkil — 30 years
⚖️ Retired Prosecutor Juris Kaps — 36 years
👮‍♂️ Retired Decatur Chief Harry Layman — 36 years
👮‍♂️ Retired Covert Township Chief Rick Winans — 40 years
🐾 Retired VBC Animal Control Services Director Jerry Schuman — 11 years
👮‍♂️ Detective/Lt. David Walker — 35 years and still going!

(These represent the individual’s total years of law enforcement service and are not limited to service with any one specific agency. Some individuals may have served with multiple law enforcement agencies throughout their careers.)

From all of us at Hard Times Family Restaurant, thank you for your service to our communities. It is our privilege to have you gather around our tables, share stories, and continue the friendships built through years of service.

Thank you for protecting, serving, leading, and making our communities better places to live. 🇺🇸💙
