Donnie's began as a take out pizzeria and quickly expanded to a full service restaurant thanks to the blessing and s

upport from the Decatur community. Donnie's expanded menu includes tasty original dishes emphasizing freshness and a fusion of worldly flavors to please even the pickiest of eaters. For the health conscious, Donnie's offers vegan and vegetarian options as well as fresh smoothies and salads. Donnie's boasts an extensive collection of craft beers and wines. In 2023, Donnie's moved to our current location on Merchant Street in downtown Decatur.

While we originally planned on tomorrow being our last day, we have sold out of food tonight and have closed our doors.

Tonight is the last night for Donnie's Homespun Pizza 🍕.

We'd like to thank the community for sending us off with a bang!!! However, it's incredibly sad and disheartening that it took us announcing our closure for our restaurant to be consistently FULL.

Over the past year and a half, we bridged the gap between our lunch and dinner service, tried our hand at being open on Mondays and Tuesdays, added sandwiches back into the menu, offered some exciting new pizzas, and hosted a few very unique private events.

And yes, our space did smell like cigar smoke as it's located next to a cigar shop. Something we had no control over.

And yes, we also missed the old space on Oakwood. But rent increases forced Donnie's to move downtown 2.5 years ago. We had nothing to do with that decision when we took over. We did the best with the space we were given and tried to make it feel contemporary and welcoming.

We hosted music events in Central Park. FREE events. Family-friendly. Right in the heart of our downtown.

We did everything we could, everything we were able to do. And it wasn't enough to stay open.

If you don't support your local businesses, they will close.

What's kept us going for this long is the support and care that our staff has put into our dream. We wouldn't have gotten this far without all of you.

To our friends and neighbors,

This week will be our last at Donnie’s. 💔

Closing our doors is not something we ever wanted to do. We’ve done everything we could to keep going, but the current economic climate—both here in our community and more broadly—has made it impossible for us to continue. We simply can’t afford to operate at a loss any longer, especially with our own family and three kids depending on us.

We are truly heartbroken. Running Donnie’s has meant so much to us, and we’re grateful for every memory, conversation, and connection we’ve shared with you all.

We especially want to thank our staff, who have given their all through thick and thin. Their dedication, hard work, and care are a big part of what made Donnie’s feel like home. We couldn’t have made it this far without them.

Thank you for supporting us, for showing up, and for making Donnie’s such a special place over the past year and a half. We appreciate you more than we can say. Thank you for being part of our story.

$6 Hand of Fate Vanilla Dream Ale is a light and refreshing cream ale, infused with vanilla, and known for its smooth, easy-drinking character.
