Sapient Trip Ale — Dark Horse Brewing Co.
Become a know it all: Ever sit next to that guy in the bar who had a few and now seems to know everything? Sapient means “wise, educated, intelligent.” Have a few of these on an empty stomach you will quickly understand how that barstool genius feels.
Strong, but VERY drinkable: Tastes a bit like “Duvel,” nice “strong ale” taste with the tiniest bit of carbonation flavor.
Why to like the Brewery: Featured on 2014 TV show “Dark Horse Nation,” with characters named “Wacky”, “Wiggs” and “Chappy”. 2 different owners since then but still making solid b**rs.
How to drink it: Goblet or Tulip Glass (to prevent drinking too fast), or in smaller glasses to share (if you must, the author didn’t share his). Drink it warmer than you would an IPA or refrigerated l***r, but colder than a darker Belgian.
The town: Marshall MI – home of Adam Gase, former head coach of the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets (hey, a guys gotta work somewhere), and current Chargers (0-5) assistant coach. I bet he’d like a 9.5% ABV b**r about now.
Drink it with: The label reads “Pairs well Back yard BBQ, smoked sausage, peach cobbler, and Brie”. Do you want your relatives operating a hot grill with a can of 9.5% ABV? Does your backyard Delco BBQ party include “Brie”? Just don’t drink it on an empty stomach, eat something. Or, at least have some water... Please 🤣
