It all started with a simple moment — a playful flour fight between my daughter and me. What began as laughter in the kitchen turned into a spark that would change our lives forever. That spark became Illy’s Fire Pizza LLC.
Before moving to Columbus, Ohio, pizza-making was nothing more than a hobby. My “famILLY” and I loved spending time together in the kitchen, experimenting, creating, and laughing. We didn’t realize it then, but those small moments were preparing us for something much bigger.
Since we only ate turkey meat, our very first pizza was made with ground turkey — and it was love at first bite. Something about the process — the dough under our hands, the smell of sauce simmering, the sound of laughter in the background — pulled us in. From that day forward, pizza-making became more than food; it became a bond, a family tradition.
Every Christmas Eve, we’d gather around and make pizzas together. That night became sacred — our way of celebrating family, faith, and flavor.
At the time, I was working full-time for the telephone company. Life was steady but routine. After six years, my wife and I decided we needed a fresh start — something new for our “famILLY.” We packed up our dreams and moved to Columbus, Ohio, ready for whatever came next.
But soon after, life threw us a curveball — I was laid off. It could have been the end of a chapter, but instead, it became the beginning of our story. With determination, creativity, and faith, my wife and I began selling pizzas right out of our Hilliard home. Every weekend, the smell of fresh pizza filled our neighborhood — and before we knew it, we were selling nearly 200 pizzas every weekend.
That’s when we knew we had something special.
In February of 2014, Illy’s Fire Pizza was officially born. I took a leap of faith — and my retirement savings — and invested it into building a mobile pizza business. We specialized in turkey-based, organic, hormone- and antibiotic-free meats, paired with the freshest produce we could find. We didn’t just want to make pizza — we wanted to create a healthier, cleaner, and tastier pizza experience for everyone.
From those humble beginnings, our dream grew. What started in our kitchen with flour on the floor turned into a full-blown business, now operating out of a 24-foot enclosed pizza trailer.
Our mission has remained the same:
To provide a healthier, cleaner pizza alternative for pizza lovers — served in a fun, family-friendly, and hip environment.
