One of the biggest problems with e-bikes is getting people to shift gears. Too many ride around in just one gear all the time and wear out an entire cassette or freewheel for just one gear (it's not like the old days when you can get a replacement cog). That is crazy expensive when you are talking 10speed and above cassettes.
Not only is it hard on the cassette and chain, but the motor has to work harder as well. So, I have started swapping in what would be close ratio racing cassettes. This customer, as you can see by the photo, NEVER got in to his low gear BEFORE I started on his conversion and his high gear is something like a 13. Now he has 10, 12, 14, 16... all more usable gears. This is a fairly affordable swap and I can take this cassette, with less than 200 miles on it and use it on someone's traditional bike for a lot less money. It also means that much less inventory I need to buy. Everyone wins!
